AWE Award FinalistsAlberta Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is honoring female entrepreneurs from across the province. Nominated by their peers these inspirational women are achieving growth and success in business. With 33 nominees for the 2014 award, they collectively represent over $500 million dollars in annual revenues and over 7,700 employees.  There are 13 nominees from Calgary, 10 from Edmonton, 2 from Grande Prairie and 1 each from Fort McKay, Drayton Valley, Nisku, Plamondon, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, St. Albert and Strathmore.

The impact these female entrepreneurs have in our province through their contributions to the economy and the communities they live in is something we need to recognize on a larger scale.  AWE is excited to bring these accomplishments to the forefront to inspire all Alberta entrepreneurs,” says Tracey Scarlett, CEO Alberta Women Entrepreneurs.

The Celebration of Achievement pays tribute to an exceptional entrepreneur who has achieved recognizable success. This visionary woman is an inspirational leader, who has built an entrepreneurial venture in Alberta with significant impact on the economy and the community, and who acts as a role model for women in business.
AWE will be hosting a cocktail reception to celebrate and recognize all of the nominees.

The nominee celebration event will take place in Edmonton at the Chateau Lacombe Hotel on January 30th, 2014.

The Honourable Minister Heather Klimchuk and his Worship Mayor Don Iveson will be in attendance for this inaugural event.

This is the only event of its kind in Alberta that brings together female entrepreneurs with representatives from government, industry, media and educational institutions to celebrate the outstanding contribution of inspiring female entrepreneurs.

The winner will be chosen by a jury comprised of recognized business leaders in Alberta. The chosen recipient will be notified by AWE on January 31st, 2014.

The Celebration of Achievement Award will be presented at a gala in Calgary, May 14th, 2014.
