The Building Trades of Alberta Community Foundation has again donated $25,000 to JDRF Canada through the JDRF Northern Alberta Gala Dinner – Denim and Diamonds. Building Trades of Alberta Community Foundation continues to support the mission to improve the lives of 300,000 Canadians living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Thanks to generous supporters such as the Building Trades of Alberta Community Foundation, JDRF Canada will continue to fund the best and the brightest diabetes researchers across the country.
Since 2001, the Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation has been committed to the eradication of Diabetes”, said Warren Fraleigh, Executive Director. “We have raised over $2.6 million dollars for Diabetes research and programming in that time. JDRF Canada has been one of our long standing partners in this fight. The support they offer to those children and their families suffering with this disease is invaluable.”
Canada has a rich history of diabetes innovations from the discovery of insulin by Banting and Best, to the development of the Edmonton Protocol by Dr. James Shapiro for islet transplants, to human clinical trials in encapsulation. None of this would be possible without dedicated supporters like the Building Trades of Alberta.
JDRF thanks the Building Trades of Alberta Community Foundation for their continued leadership support. Through their generosity they have inspired countless others. We truly value and appreciate your commitment to JDRF and to finding a cure,” said Duane Schreiner, Regional Manager, JDRF Canada. “Your generous donation will make an enormous difference in the lives of hundreds Albertans and thousands of Canadians and give hope to families affected by T1D that a cure will be found in our lifetime.”
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. More than 300,000 children, adolescents and adults live with T1D in Canada. JDRF research is helping children and adults in Canada and worldwide by accelerating life-changing T1D breakthroughs.
