Immgrant-AwardsImmigrant Services Calgary has hosted the annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards (IDA) since 1997. This gala event honours the contributions and exceptional achievements of immigrants and refugees in the Calgary community through the presentation of awards and youth scholarships. “Inspire Support Connect” is the theme for the 22nd Anniversary of the IDA which will be held on March 9, 2018 at The Westin Hotel. This gala will showcase individuals who have inspired us with their passion and dedication.

Nominate an outstanding immigrant or refugee in the fields of arts and culture, professional achievement, entrepreneurship and innovation, and community service. You can also nominate an organization which embraces diversity or an immigrant or refugee youth whose achievements truly make him or her shine.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Award Criteria:

  • Individuals must have been born outside of Canada
  • Individuals must be permanent residents of Calgary and/or surrounding areas
  • The Awards are not open to individuals who currently hold an elected political office
  • Individuals can not nominate themselves for this award
  • One individual can be nominated in maximum of two award categories

YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Award Criteria:

  • Individuals must have been born outside of Canada
  • Individuals must be permanent residents of Calgary and/or surrounding areas
  • Individuals between the ages of 14 and 24
  • Individuals can nominate themselves for this award
  • One individual can be nominated in maximum of two award categories

AL DIVERSITY AWARD

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nominated organizations must have an office in Calgary and/or surrounding area, either locally owned or a local branch of a national or multi-national organization
  • Organization can be nominated by an internal employee or external stakeholder
