NAIT Students Win Awards for Architectural Design & Business Plan Competition

NAIT(by Dan Barnes, Edmonton Journal ) Some of the best and brightest, past and present, are a little richer for their educational experience at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Second-year student Michael Gross pocketed $2,000 Friday for winning the third-annual Architectural Technology design contest while the four recent graduates behind animation studio 8-Bit 3D – Scott Germain, Andrew Grundler, Housam Jammaz and Nathan Shankoff – shared $20,000 for winning the fourth-annual Hatch business plan competition, which is open to ideas with a technology, science or knowledge-based focus. Gross, 27, pitched his sustainable, open concept for an existing Canadian Western Bank branch in Abbotsford, B.C., to more than a dozen CWB employees last month. CWB sponsored the competition.

During a formal evening presentation at the magnificent Francis Winspear Centre for Music, the Salute to Excellence Committee inducts outstanding Edmontonians into the City of Edmonton Arts and Culture, Community Service, and Sports Halls of Fame. The City of Edmonton encourages all Edmontonians to look at their neighbours, colleagues, community leaders and organizations for individuals who could potentially qualify for  induction into the City of Edmonton Halls of Fame.
