Charity App Challenge Encourages Local Developers to Support Calgary Charities

Charity-App ChallengeThe Charity App Challenge is an initiative of the Calgary Herald, Digital Alberta and Place2Give. These three organizations came together over the idea of how can they could leverage technology for social good – hack-a-thon style! Mobile is the fastest growing communications and engagement medium and digital philanthropy is an evolving sector. They asked themselves, what could mobile technology do for the 12 Herald Christmas Fund charities to help solve a problem or help reach their goals and objectives? This year the Calgary Herald‘s Christmas Fund decided to champion mobile for its participating charities to help them in their organizational endeavors. Want to get involved? The Hack-a-thon will take place over 48 hours on Saturday, February 2 through Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Calgary Herald.
